LOCAL MISSIONS OUTREACH
Agape Team - prepares and serves food to bereaved famillies who gather back at the church or their homes following funerals of loved ones. They provide food, when requested, to those returning home from hospitalizations. They also distribute food left over from church banquets to families who can benefit from that food.
Children's Missions - The Children's Pastor designates a monthly project for the children to support, such as bringing food items to share, etc., so they can get an early taste of giving and serving as the lifestyle of the Christian.
Christmas Food Outreach - our Social Concerns Committee prepares a Holiday Food basket at the holidays to distribute to a list of families within the church in need of food assistance.
Free Clothing Store (pictured at left with lead volunteer, Marie Pelfrey) - This Clothing ministry is for the local community. All clothes are given free. It is open a few hours four days of each week. Some other Bethel Churches offer some assistance with this project. (In October, 2009, Marie Pelfrey was honored by the Ohio State Grange with a Voluntarism award for her work with the Free Store)
Free Day - Approximately every other year, our Social Concerns Committee sponsors a Free Day distribution, offering free material goods from our Multi-purpose room to those in need.
Individual Missions Projects - Periodically, the Missions Committee considers requests from individuals who are seeking sponsorship for camps, mission trips or missions projects.
Kitchen of Hope - Each Saturday from 11:00 a
.m. - 1:00 p.m., a team of volunteers serves a hot lunch to anyone in the community needing a free warm meal. Those who are elderly, young, unemployed, underemployed, in a need of a hot meal, or just in need of fellowship and understanding, are invited to join us at the Kitchen of Hope. Ministerial Association 734-HELP Outreach - Our congregation participates in the collections funding the Ministerial Association outreach to local families needing help with food, rent, utilities, and gas.
Ministry to the Aged - This supportive local ministry serves the aged in nursing homes. Services provided include visits, communion, and funerals
Pregnancy Center of Clermont in Amelia - The centers offers free a variety of counseling (adoption, single parent, abstinence, etc), baby items, and referrals. The Gospel of Jesus is shared and church referrals given.
Pastor's Discretionary Fund - BUMC families needing assistance are referred to the Senior Pastor for priviate consultaion regarding their needs with payment of food, utilities, car repairs, etc.
Sauls Homeless Shelter - This community agency is the only homeless shelter in Clermont County. Although it is not a specifically Christian agency, the need is great for such a service.
Small Group Missions Projects - One of our adult small groups devotes regular work sessions at the Free Store, and to a Cincinnati inner city soup kitchen to express tangible caring for people in need.
Teen Challenge - This is a Milford area Christian ministry to men who have problems with susbance abuse. This is a residential long term treatment program
Youth Missions - The Youth Council is seeking to implement a regular missions project for youth, such as "Awaken the City," to help them learn the value of missions participation.
Young Adults - A Young Women's Small Group has organized service projects that have included free Christmas gift wrapping for the community, while offering coffee and cookies to those who dropped in.
"United Methodist Women" - Our UMW group prepares Christmas fruit baskets and Easter cookie plates for shut-ins, love boxes for college students & service personnel, and they support the infant shoe box ministry for the Pregnancy Center of Clermont.
