Youth / Young Adult Pastor Staff Position Open - See Info Here
Bethel UM Church has a Youth / Young Adult Pastor staff position open, following the 1/15/2010 departure of Dustin Nimmo. Click below for an expanded job description for this position. After reviewing this information, you may submit your resume as an attached file to RevBowdle(at)fuse.net
Our youth ministry is in a period of transition as our devoted Youth Council is working to supply full interim coverage of our youth ministries while the search for a permanent replacement proceeds. We have narrowed the field among the applicants and are checking references, offering an opportunity for a worship presentation to our youth, and preparing for interviews by mid to late March. We are deeply grateful to both incoming youth council chair, Barbara McKee, and to outgoing chair, Glenn Beyer, for their faithful efforts in this transition period.
YOUTH MINISTRY OFFERINGS
Sunday Ministries which target our youth include
* 9:30 a.m. Sunday School Classes in our 316 House.
* Most of our youth attend the 10:45 a.m. Sunday morning Modern Service in the Chapel, led by our youth pastor, who targets their age and interests.
* Sunday night Small Group Ministries meets weekly during the school year for fellowship, group study, and spiritual growth. These small groups are led by teams of adult volunteers, and meet in the amazing home of Guy and Linda Marquette, a magnificent setting for providing the youth with a safe, fun and attractive environment.

- 316 House - for Youth Sunday School Classes & "The Porch" Ministry
Summertime small groups occur in an alternative setting, split into guys and girls study groups, to target their unique and special interests.
Special periodic ministry opportunities include: periodic missions projects, recreational activities, overnights, retreats, and youth conventions provide exciting opportunities for service, fellowship, worship and growth.
Our current youth ministry strategy is as follows: We do our youth ministry primarily on Sundays because we don't believe in keeping people "off the streets" and "in the church." We want to equip and teach on Sundays and see the rest of the week as our time of being on the mission field of our families, school, work, sports teams, etc.
If we spend all of our time in the church then we are missing so much of what Jesus intended for us. "Go therefore and make disciples of all nations..." Matthew 28:19-20 ESV, "I do not ask that you take them out of the world, but that you keep them from the evil one. They are not of the world, just as I am not of the world. Sanctify them in the truth; your word is truth. As you sent me into the world, so I have sent them into the world." John 17:15-18 ESV) .
All that being said.... We are a ministry of the Bethel United Methodist Church and find ourselves on the same mission, which is.... To Make Disciples for Jesus Christ.
