“Let the little children come to me. Don’t keep them away. The kingdom of heaven belongs to people like them.” – Matthew 19:14
Children and families are a central part of Bethel UMC and we strive to include children in Sunday morning worship, while also meeting their age specific needs through Sunday School and other programming. As you come visit us on Sunday morning, you will see and hear the sounds of children laughing, singing and praying. Our children truly set an example to all, as they live out Jesus’ love. Below you will discover what a typical Sunday looks like from the view of Children’s Ministry.
Nursery (0 – 2 Year Olds)
Is available during the 8:00 service, 9:15 Sunday School Hour, and 10:30 service. Please see one of our greeters at the welcome center, and they will gladly direct you to the nursery. All volunteers have been cleared through our Safe Sanctuary approved background check program, Protect My Ministry.
Pre-School – Kindergarten (3 Years Old – Kindergarten)
Programming is offered for this age group for the 9:15 Sunday School Hour and 10:30 worship service. For those attending the Sunday School Hour, please check your child in prior to the start of Sunday School. Children attending Sunday School during the 10:30 service will remain with their parents in the sanctuary through the children’s message, at which time they will be dismissed to their Sunday School class. Parents are to pick up their children at the conclusion of the service.
Jr. Church (1st – 6th Grade)
Jr. Church is offered for children during the 9:15 Sunday School hour. During this time, children will receive a fun and interactive Bible lesson, followed by a hands on learning lesson. Both of these allow the children to experience the story of Jesus in a variety of ways. At the conclusion of Jr. Church, children will be brought into the sanctuary as a class, where parents can pick them up.
10:30 Worship Service
All children, first through sixth grade, are encouraged to worship together with their families. We believe this is a vital part of children finding their role within the church. Activity kits are provided each week, providing a children’s bulletin and other resources that keep them engaged. We would love to see you at church on Sunday!
Midweek Ministries for Children
Pioneer Club / FX
Pioneer Club / FX is a weekly children’s program that reinforces the lessons taught on Sunday morning. This program is designed for pre-school children through sixth grade. This program is offered on Wednesday nights, from 6:30pm – 8:00pm. It begins the first Wednesday in October and runs through March.
Family Nights and Other Events
Here at BUMC, we believe in establishing strong families for Jesus Christ. Teaming up with Orange Curriculum, we seek to empower you to lead your children in the ways of Jesus. Along with solid Biblical teaching, we also offer “Family Nights” throughout the year. These events are designed to help build a connection and memories with your children. Easter, Christmas and Summer Family nights have come to be a huge hit among our families.
VBS at BUMC is one of the highlights of our out reaching and ministry. Our VBS offers dramas, Bible stories, singing, crafts, snacks and gym games. This past year nearly 250 children participated in our VBS, providing a great way for our community to see Christ’s love for all. This year’s theme is: Shipwrecked: Rescued by Jesus Dates for this year’s VBS are July 8- 12.
