MEMBERSHIP DOES HAVE ITS PRIVILEGES!
Maybe you’ve heard the credit card commercial that extols how “membership has its privileges!” Membership at Bethel UMC likewise presents that same attribute.
All people are welcome to attend services and participate in the life of Bethel UMC; you DO NOT have to be a member to be a part of the church.
However, if you would like to seek a stronger and more solid connection with Jesus Christ, Bethel UMC membership can help you achieve that goal. Those individuals who are ready or who seek that kind of deeper connection are invited to consider membership. The first step is to arrange a time to meet and talk with the Senior Pastor regarding current or proposed membership classes and whether you would be interested.
The United Methodist Church offers four types of membership:
PROFESSING MEMBERS, who are baptized members who have come into membership in the church through profession of faith or by transfer from another local UMC. You must be baptized, either in the UMC or another Christian church, to become a professing member.
BAPTIZED MEMBERS are those individuals who have been baptized in the Christian faith in this church or transferred into BUMC after a baptism elsewhere but who have not taken profession of faith membership vows.
AFFILIATE MEMBERS of BUMC are professing members of another local UMC who are temporarily located in this congregation, but who wish to keep their primary membership in their original local church.
ASSOCIATE MEMBERS of BUMC are members of another denomination who desire temporary membership in BUMC during a time of residing locally.
